LinkThis mold making and slip casting workshop is very useful to develop your work with ceramics or porcelain. A plaster mold gives you a possibility to create several identical objects in a short time. This method allows very precise work.
You will learn the basic steps in handling the material gypsum such as mixing the gypsum to a homogeneous casting compound without air bubbles, the right ratio of water and gypsum, material properties when working.
After a theoretical introduction to the process of model and plaster mold production, you will learn under professional guidance how to examine the model for underhand grips and how it affects the mold construction.
You can produce a 1 to 2-part plaster mold from objects provided or brought with you. Simple geometric shapes are best, no larger than 10 cm (a ball, plastic/paper cup, empty cream tube made of stable material, an old ceramic/porcelain bowl/cup)
The finished plaster molds can be used for numerous casts made of ceramic material, for example in the follow-up workshop on porcelain casting.
